Five years ago, Carl Johnson escaped the pressures of life in Los Santos, San Andreas—a city tearing itself apart with gang trouble, drugs, and corruption. Now, it's the early 90s, and Carl's got to go home.

On his return to the neighborhood, a couple of corrupt cops frame him for homicide, forcing CJ on a journey across the entire state of San Andreas to save his family and take control of the streets.

Unlocking the World of San Andreas

Not all locations are open to the player at the start of the game. Key areas become available only after completing specific missions:

• Mod Garages, Restaurants, Gyms, and Shops – Accessible after completing specific missions.
• Los Santos and Suburbs – Available at the start; other cities and rural areas unlock as you progress.

If the player attempts to explore locked locations early in the game, they will attract the attention of SWAT teams, police, and police-controlled Hydras if in an aircraft.
